Cost of Living Relief

I know what it’s like to struggle to make ends meet. Before entering Parliament, I worked for most of my life on minimum wage in Woolworths stores across Melbourne’s outer south-east. I understand the pressures local families are under—that’s why I’m working hard to deliver real cost-of-living relief.
💰 $2,530 in Tax Cuts for Every Worker in Holt
Under the Coalition, billions of dollars would have gone to the wealthiest households. Instead, Labor redesigned the tax cuts so that 90% of families in Holt are better off, with the average taxpayer saving $2,530 a year.
We have cut taxes in the last two budgets because you will pay less tax under Labor than the Liberals
⚡ $450 Energy Rebate – Cutting Bills by 17.9%
The global energy crisis has made it harder for families to keep up with rising power bills. That’s why Labor introduced a $450 energy rebate for every household and $475 for small businesses. These rebates have driven energy prices down by 17.9%.
👩🎓 $3 Billion in Student Debt Relief – Helping 19,689 Holt Residents
The surge in student debt in recent years was unfair and unsustainable. No young Australian should be forced to decide their future based on the cost of study. That’s why we changed the HECS-HELP indexation system, wiping $3 billion in student debt and ensuring that future debts will never grow faster than wages.
For a graduate with an average HECS debt of $26,500, this change means a saving of $1,200.
💊 Making Medicines Cheaper
We’ve frozen the cost of PBS medicines for three years—and for concession card holders, five years—to help families manage rising costs. We’ve also halved the price of PBS medicines by introducing 60-day prescriptions, saving Australian households over $1 billion.
🏡 Increasing Rental Assistance by 43%
Labor has delivered the largest increase to Commonwealth Rent Assistance in history—a 43% boost to help people on the Age Pension, JobSeeker, Carer Payment, and Disability Support Pension afford a roof over their heads.
👴 Expanding Access to the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card
More than 50,000 additional older Australians and veterans now have access to the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, thanks to Labor’s increase to the income threshold.
- Singles: Income limit raised to $90,000 (from $61,284)
- Couples: Income limit raised to $144,000 (from $98,054)
This means more seniors can access cheaper medicines, bulk-billed GP visits, discounted council rates, and lower utility costs—helping them manage cost-of-living.
Building a Stronger Medicare
👨⚕️ Labor Will Expand Bulk Billing So You Can See a GP for Free
A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will expand bulk billing, so every Australians can see a doctor for free. We are making the largest investment in Medicare’s history—an $8.5 billion boost—to deliver 18 million more bulk-billed GP visits every year.
Labor believes healthcare should be based on need, not the ability to pay. This means in Holt, the number of fully bulk-billed clinics will increase from 22 to 35, giving thousands of local families better access to free healthcare, closer to home.
💊 Making Cheaper Medicines even Cheaper.
The Albanese Labor Government will drive down the cost of essential medicines. We have already reduced the maximum cost of PBS medicines to $31.60 per script, and if re-elected we will cut them to $25. This will save Australians over $200 million each year. The last time PBS medicines were this affordable was in 2004.
♀️ Investing in Women's Health
Women’s health should never be an afterthought. That’s why Labor is making historic investments, including:
- The first PBS listing of new oral contraceptive pills in more than 30 years.
- New PBS and medicare listings for menopause health.
- Bulk billing for IUDs and birth control implants.
- The opening of 11 new endometriosis and pelvic pain clinics.
- Expanding Medicare-funded IVF treatments.
By prioritising women’s health, we are ensuring Australian women have access to the care they deserve.
🏥 More Funding for Victorian Hospitals
When Peter Dutton was Health Minister, he cut $50 billion from Australian hospitals, including Monash Health. These cuts left hospitals struggling with surgery backlogs and underfunded vital services.
Labor is reversing this damage. We are injecting an extra $402 million into Victorian hospitals next year to help clear surgery backlogs and ensure hospitals can continue delivering the high-quality care our communities rely on.
This election is a choice: a stronger Medicare under Labor or more cuts under Peter Dutton and the Liberals.

Investing In Our Youngest

Family is everything. It is the foundation of our lives, our communities, and our future. That’s why family is at the heart of everything Labor does as a government.
👶 Expanding Paid Parental Leave to 26 weeks
From the very start of life, we are making sure parents have the support they need. Labor created Paid Parental Leave in 2010. Now we are expanding Paid Parental Leave to 26 weeks by 2026—giving mums and dads more time together with their little ones.
🤱 Superannuation on Paid Parental Leave
No mother should retire with less, simply because she took time out to care for her family. By paying Superannuation on Paid Parental Leave we will help close the retirement income gap between men and women.
🧸 Cheaper Childcare - Saving Families $2,700
We know that childcare is not just about convenience—it’s about giving every child the best start in life. That is why we’ve made early childhood education more affordable for 96% percent of families, saving them an average of $2,700 since we introduced our reforms.
👩🏫 15% Payrise for Early Childhood Workers
Childhood educators who nurture and shape our children have been for too long been underpaid. That’s why Labor delivered a 15% pay rise for them.
One of Australia's largest providers, saw a 35% percent increase in job applications since implementing this agreement. That means more passionate educators staying in the sector and more children getting the quality care they deserve.
